Today we moved towards the last leg of our journey.that means we drove 300 kms to the Iranian border spent a mere 2 hours there and then carried on for another 300 to get to Erzerum. Very happy with the hotel as they did my washing in no time at all. Beer for the first time in 3 days and I think there will be merriment tonight. I liked Iran although I may be alone in that view. Great roads and very enthusiastic people. Turkey does not feel a lot different but I am sure it will get more European the further west we travel. It is nice to have mobile coverage again although the petrol prices are simply astronomical. Beards are disappearing fast on the rally - my second effort is not much more than a light covering of wispiness. Here's hoping by Paris it might look like one. Stone throwing is becoming an epidemic over the last three or four days. Normally young boys are the culprits and open top cars their victims - pity really as it colours peoples views of a country. Ham is finally solid and our only problem with the car is fourth gear popping out involuntarily. So we bash on tomorrow with a prospective 700 kms to travel. Hotel is comfortable and as I said earlier will probably get a right seeing to tonight.
